Our Daily Bread provides financial assistance, food assistance and financial mentoring to all of Fairfax County (including residents of City of Fairfax, City of Falls Church, Town of Herndon, Town of Vienna) - except the Route 1 corridor. We are a second-tier provider in the area of United Community Ministries (UCM), Good Shepherd Housing and Family Services and Lorton Community Action Center (LCAC). See Zip Code listing (PDF).
TANF-EF Grant Funds Through a grant from Fairfax County's Department of Human Services Information Systems, Our Daily Bread is one of the Fairfax County organizations that is distributing TANF-EF Grant funds. Under this grant, ODB can provide a combination of food, financial assistance and financial literacy services to qualified Fairfax County residents. In order to qualify for this grant, families must:

Our Daily Bread is receiving referrals for clients who qualify for this short-term program from Fairfax County's Coordinated Services Planning (CSP). Referring agents should encourage clients wishing to learn if they qualify for the program to contact CSP at 703-222-0880. For Food Assistance Fill out an "Application for Assistance" (MS Word) and fax, mail, or e-mail to Our Daily Bread Food Manager, Christina Garris. Our waitlist is approximately 2 months before regular delivery. We deliver only to Fairfax County Residents. Any questions, call Christina Garris at (703) 273-8829. For Financial Assistance Our Daily Bread can provide qualified Fairfax County residents with a one-time grant of up to $200, which must be paid directly to the service provider. Financial grants are intended for an emergency payment toward housing, utilities, auto repair, or medical assistance. ODB must receive a referral from a qualified social worker, community-based organization or faith-based organization in order to dispense financial assistance. Grants are given between the 15th and 31st of each month. To make a referral for financial assistance, a social worker or case worker must call one of ODB's referral intake workers. Please call between 8:30am - 4pm. Grants are given on a first-come, first-serve basis. For Financial Literacy Services
ODB requires a referral from a Social Worker with Fairfax County or qualified Community Based Organizations or Faith Based Organizations for those wishing to receive Financial Mentoring services. To make a referral, fill out the APPLICATION FOR ASSISTANCE (MS WORD, PDF) and sending it to: Patricia Lopez; E-mail: FinancialLiteracy@ODBfairfax.org; Fax: 703-273-7131. ODB's Basic Budgeting (Thrifty Thursdays) and Credit Smart classes are open to the public. No referral is needed, but we ask that you or the client RSVP to Patricia Lopez at 703-273-8829. ODB is seeking 5 clients for its new Matched Savings Program. Applications must be submitted by June 18. See our Matched Savings Program page for more information. For Holiday Assistance Holiday Referrals are accepted from county and school social workers and guidance counselors. Check back in August 2010 for more information on referring families for Holiday Assistance. For School Supplies Our Daily Bread's Back to School program provides school supply assistance in the late summer to the children of ODB clients. Due to limited resources, ODB is not able to take requests from non-clients. ODB will contact eligible clients in June to survey their interest in receiving school supply assistance for their children. ODB does not dispense school supplies directly to clients, and we are unable to accept donations of school supplies.
