What is Our Daily Bread?

Our Daily Bread (ODB) is a volunteer-based organization focused on easing the plight of low income residents in the area of Fairfax, Virginia. It draws volunteers from local faith-based groups, community organizations, local businesses, schools and universities.

Our Daily Bread identifies and addresses the unmet fundamental needs of Fairfax area residents and empowers the community to help our neighbors maintain self-sufficiency

Thank You for Making Empty Bowls 2010 a Success! A HUGE thank you to everyone who joined ODB at Empty Bowls on February 23. And a big thanks to our Empty Bowls sponsors and volunteers. The event raised $16,145 -- $8,085 in cash and $8,060 in in-kind donations. Your generosity and hard work will help us make a difference in the lives of more families in the Fairfax County area. ODB Receives Congressional Recognition Many thanks to Congressman Gerry Connolly for inserting a statement into the Congressional Record recognizing Our Daily Bread's work. Rep. Connolly's staff presented a framed copy to ODB at Empty Bowls on February 23. Read the Congressional Record Statement.

Employers: Help Your Workers Get Financially Fit! Using FDIC's Money Smart curriculum, ODB can provide one-time one-hour budgeting and credit classes or 4-part or 6-part "Credit Smart" courses. Six-Week Credit Smart Course 3/10-4/14 ODB is offering a new session of its six-week Credit Smart course to help help participants improve their credit ratings and gain a better understanding of the process of buying a home. Classes will be held in Reston every Wednesday from March 10 through April 14 at 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. The next course will be held in Falls Church from May 5 through June 9.
